Imagination... it's an amazing thing. It's not like she has many life-experiences to build on. She hasn't seen much, heard much, or experienced much.
So then, how does she know how to pretend, imagine?
How does she know to pour me a glass of pretend tea, ask me, "More Momma?" and pour me another glass?
How does she know that my booboo needs pretend magic medicine, a pretend bandaide, and then say, "It's all betta momma."
How does she know that her baby is sad, pick her up and say, "It's ok baby"?
Perhaps she is seeing more than I think. Always watching, always listening, always experiencing.

Daddy's Sous Chef
Two of Daddy's dreams came true....
1. Cooking with Mya! She loved helping Daddy prep the ribs for the smoker! I'm not sure who was more excited about this, Mya or Daddy?!?!? I can see it now.... Chef Mya Wiegman!
2. Mya eating ribs! Matt has tried to get Mya to eat ribs since before she even had teeth! To both of our surprise, she grabbed hold and took a bite like she was a pro! I think she actually liked the sauce more than the rib, but this was a HUGE step for our nearly vegetarian daughter! Perhaps the fact that she helped make the ribs led her to want to try them!

Da Bears with Da Kormans without Da Kid!
We were so lucky to be invited to a preseason Bears game with the Kormans. They had awesome tickets in the Cadillac Club section of Soldier Field. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to go and lucky for us, my sister offered to keep Mya overnnight!!! This meant and adult evening out with friends, enjoying the evening without a curfew, and sleeping in a bit in the morning! Matt and I decided to get a hotel in the city and make the best of our night out!
Mya couldn't have been more excited about her first slumber party! She repeatedly talked about sleeping at Auntie's house and riding in Auntie's car. "Ty Ty" and "Auntie" were the first words she said when she awakened from her SHORT nap! She was just too excited!!! We dropped Mya off at my sister's house around 3. She basically ran into the house and never looked back! Andra got her a super cute tutu that she tried on immediately! The kids had to persuade her to say goodbye to Matt and me! Even with their persuasion, we had to go to her to get a goodbye kiss!!!
It took us 2 hours to get to the city. Although that was a bit long, I must admit it was nice to have 2 hours with no whining, begging, DORA, or tending to a lil one! We talked and listened to the radio.
After a few drinks, we caught the bus and headed for Soldier Field to meet up with the Kormans. We had awesome seats on the 50 yard line! The Cadillac Club was great... lots of different varieties of food and drinks. There is even a section that serves prime rib and has white table clothes! Who knew we could fit in so well with the "upper-class" enough with being a commoner! ;0)
I also had a celebrity sighting! This wouldn't be that exciting for the normal person, but he just so happens to be on my Top 5 list! Luckily, I had already told Matt about my crush...otherwise he may have thought I was insane when I became so hot and bothered after seeing him! It was Bill Rancic from 'The Apprentice' and 'Giuliana and Bill'!! I know, weird.... but I really do love him!!! I spastically shouted his name at him and he smiled and waved. I melted! Dang it.... why didn't I get a picture?!? I was too starstruck! By the way, Matt loves him too... he's a Sandburg High School alum and went to Bradley for a year!

A HUGE thank you to the Korman's for inviting us to the game! We love you guys!!!
When we got to my sister's house to pick up Mya, she really wanted little to do with us. She ran right by me, hugged her Daddy, and then ran off to play with the kids. Go figure, I spend EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE with her and I'm chop liver to her!
A BIG THANK YOU TO THE KUEHL'S for taking care of Mya! She loves you guys...and so do I!

Back to the Grind!
Ugh! Well, it's that time of year again. Summer vacation has sadly come to an end and the school year has begun. With that, brings 3 mornings a week with these lil' munchkins! I forgot how cute and energetic the 3 of them are together. And, oh how times have changed! These little ladies aren't babies anymore! They talk up a storm, repeat every word (SCARY!), and make eachother laugh hysterically in the car! I love the sound of 3 little girls laughing and squealing! It makes going to work not all that bad.... that and I only work 1.5 hours a day, 3 days a week! Not a bad gig!

Kindergarten... Get Ready for Brady!
Say it ain't so! My little buddy, Brady, is headed for kindergarten! How can this be? Mya and I got up bright and early in order to see Brady (and Cici) head for school! He was mostly smiles as he anxiously awaited the arrival of the school bus!

Come On Ride The Train... And Ride It!
With the school year starting in less than a week, I came to the realization that our summer was almost over! I started to panic and reflect on all the things we didn't do this summer! We didn't make it to the zoo, we didn't go boating nearly enough, we only went to the spray park twice, and the list goes on.....
One of the things I wanted to do before the craziness of the school year began was to take Mya on the train.

We took advantage of the beautiful morning AND having Daddy with us! We don't get many free days with Daddy... so Mommy took LOTS of pictures as Mya obsessed over her Daddy! She had her eye on him most of the day.... making sure he wasn't going anywhere!
Mya waited patiently for the "choo choo tain" to arrive!
Mya with her Daddy!
Mya with her Daddy!
Ok, we all know I am SO NOT MUSHY... but this picture was just too sweet! Both Daddy and Mya soaking up their time together!
And Mya showers Daddy with kisses! MUAH! "Hi tain!" Mya is super excited as the train approaches! And.... the excitement ends. "All Done, All Done!"
Pacifier in (cringe) and camera in hand. She's ready to capture the moment for her blog. ;-)

Let Me Check My Calendar....
Mya has one busy social calendar! We have been busy visiting lots of different friends and families and jamming as many playdates in as possible before the summer comes to an end.
We visited some of my former teaching friends in Lombard. It was great to catch up and watch our little ones play together. Hard to believe we met about 8 years ago.... WAY before we even thought of kids!

Clockwise L to R: Leo, Farren, Caitlyn, and Mya. The only time we could get a somewhat decent shot was during snacktime!
That afternoon, we were off to see the Witts! Mya loved playing with Quintin and was amazed by baby Zachary!

Mya wasn't so sure about Batman...but isn't he cute?
Mya showed baby Zachary how to play with his new toy.
One morning, we went to Learning Express to do a craft with Cici, B, and TyTy. This particular day, they made sock puppets. Mya loved her sock puppet....until she picked all the stickers off....then she just had a sock!

Mya and I went to Didier Farm with our neighbors, Miss Angela, Ethan, and Aiden. The farmstand was kind of a letdown, but they had a cool tractor made of haybales!
After the farm, we went to Chuck E. Cheese. Mya was pretty much terrified of all the "rides and games." I got her on the carousel for a moment before she screamed, "all done, all done, all done!" She loved the pizza and was amazed by Chuck E. Cheese!Last weekend, we had our Funk Family Reunion. It was so fun to see all of the cousins' kids playing together. Here's Olivia and Mya sharing some pretzels and stairstep.

Quentin was a CRAZY driver.... be careful Q..... precious cargo!
Mya was a bit more gentle with Q! Women drivers usually are best! ;-)

I think they just wanted to eat the wand!Great-grandma Una (Granny) with 2 of her great-grandchildren.
Granny with 4 of her Great-grandchildren!
Mya loves Granny! A special moment, indeed.
Mya's FAVORITE gift! A baby that cries!!!! She LOVES feeding the baby when she's hungry and giving her the "dasi" when she is fussy! She'll make such a good big sister....someday.
