Back to the Farm

I am so far behind on my blog posts. It's just not as easy to find the time anymore.  So... I'll mostly let the pictures tell the story.

We visited Mimi and Papa's farm earlier this month.
As usual, Mya couldn't have been happier! Luke was pretty happy too.

Papa took Mya for a combine ride. She LOVED it!!!!

If you look very closely, you can see Mya sitting next to Papa.
I'm sure she was talking his ear off and asking LOTS of questions!

Farming in her skirt! (It was unseasonally warm this day!)

Washing pumpkins for Mimi. She took her job very seriously!

My Best Friends

I was lucky enough to have my mom and sister come visit this weekend! We had a great time just being together.  Not many people are lucky enough to consider their mom and sister their best friends....but I do.

Love My Neighbors

We have the best neighbors.  They are friendly, helpful, and love our kids! Just a quick little story about our neighbors across the street, The Burgers.  Their daughter, Katie, used to babysit Mya before she left for school. They are now empty-nesters and absolutely adore Mya!

The other day, my phone rang but both my hands were busy getting dinner ready.  When I was finally able to check it, I noticed it was Vicki Burger. Just as I was about to dial her, I noticed she was running (in the rain) across the street to our house.  I opened the door for her and she explained that she was watching the most beautiful rainbow on her way home from work. As she was driving, she explained, she just knew Mya would love it! Being the stay-at-home mom that I am, I had on a less than presentable outfit! She said, "Oh, I'll take her!" She grabbed a shoeless Mya and ran with her (in the rain) out to the front curb to see the magnificant rainbow! Mya LOVED it and talked about it for days!

When she brought Mya back, she handed her a birthday card that she said she had meaning to bring over.  Inside, was a Barnes and Noble Gift Card for Mya.  In addition, she included a typed note for Matt and me offering to babysit both kids on a Friday night so Matt and I could go out on a date! Ahhhh... wouldn't that be nice!?!?

To thank the Burgers, Mya (and I) made her a rainbow picture.  Mya first sorted the colors in a cupcake tin and then placed them on the glue I put on the paper.
She LOVED this activity and wanted to do it again the next day!
