He's Here!

Wow, how life has changed in a week!  We welcomed our beautiful baby boy on Monday, May 16th, 2011.  Since his arrival we've been peed on, pooped on, and lost lots of sleep! I won't even mention what my body has been through! BUT.. we've also gained a fantastic addition to our family! He is absolutely precious! He sleeps all day and likes to party a bit at night! We're still working on teaching him the difference between day and night!

We're still adjusting to being a family of 4! For the most part, Mya LOVES her baby brother! She wakes up asking for him and showers him with hugs and kisses!

Some of her favorite things to do include:
-shoving pacifiers into his mouth (whether wanted or not)
-buckling him into his bouncy seat and carrier
-undoing Mommy's "seatbelt" (this is what she calls the buckle on my nursing bra)
-sticking stickers all over her brother's blankets
-attaching the "straps" on Luke's diaper
-telling him "it's ok, I wuv you."

Mommy right before heading into surgery! That's a BIG baby in there!

Daddy ready to power through surgery!  It got a bit gruesome in the Operating Room.  Matt tried to keep me preoccupied by quizzing me on the state capitals.  Note to self: Practice my capitals! I failed the test. I'm sure it's because I was busy birthing a baby!

Dr. Novas presents Lucas Matthew Wiegman to us! Matt introduces himself, "Luke, I am your father!"  The OR erupted in laughter....always the comedian!

Big Sister Mya giving Luke lots of love. I wonder how long this will last???

3 Days and Counting.... A Little Girl Time

Well, we have 3 days until Baby Boy W arrives!  Mya and I are trying to make the best of the beautiful weather and our time together as just mother and daughter!  Today, we had a picnic in the park! It was a perfect morning of girl time!

Am I in Labor?

On Wednesday night, I thought I was in labor.  I wasn't sure if what I was feeling were contractions or not.  I never went into labor with Mya so I'm not really sure what they feel like.  I googled what I was feeling.... big mistake!  Menstrual like cramps? CHECK.  LOWER BACK PAIN? CHECK.  I must be in labor! You can convince yourself of anything if you google it!  So, I finally called the doctor at midnight. Because what I was feeling wasn't consistent, she didn't think I was in labor.  She told me to time my contractions (if that's even what I was feeling) and they should be 5 minutes apart for 2 hours.  They weren't.  I kind of felt stupid... but better safe than sorry!  They keep telling me it's very important that I don't go into "full labor" because of the c-section.  This has made me completely paranoid!

I will admit that it felt like forever waiting until my weekly appointment which was today.  I just needed to be reassured that what I've been feeling on and off for the last 4-5 days was "normal" and the baby was ok.  He hasn't been moving as much either.  Again I googled this and learned that it's usually because he is simply out of room.  I believe that, my stomach has stretched about as far as it can go!  Just look at all my stretch marks for proof.

After waiting for the doctor for 2 HOURS (I was SO MAD!!!! Delivery or not, it was just not ok) she finally arrived.  She did my cervical check and said I was no more dialated this week than I was last week.  I couldn't believe it!  After all the aches and pains and contractions I thought I felt, still no movement!  I told her about my so-called contractions and less movement of the baby.  She decided to hook me up to the monitor just to make sure everything was ok.  Thankfully, it was!  Baby Boy W was moving just fine and I wasn't contracting at all!

SO, the countdown continues!!! Mya is still putting stickers on her countdown chart!  Tomorrow, we will be on Day 6!  I can't believe this time next week.... we'll have our little guy!

My Mimi and Me

Mother's Day seems like the appropriate day to show some recent pictures of my mom visiting.  She stayed for just a day after returning to O'hare from a week long trip in San Diego.  In just 24 hours, she was able to help me out tremendously and make Mya even more attached to her than before!

We bought some flowers in effort to beautify our house before Boy Boy W arrives! My mom did the majority of the work, insisting I don't do too much and go into labor!  She will be back next weekend for the arrival of our little guy...but until then, she needs us to keep him baking!

A Morning in the City

All it takes is a quick trip to the city to remind yourself why you love it so much!  Matt and I decided to take Mya to the city this morning to enjoy the beautiful day. I think the both of us are feeling like our clock is ticking and soon our easy family of 3 will be a hectic family of 4!

Matt told me this morning he was thinking a fun trip would be to do "what he used to do when he was little."  He wanted to take trip down memory lane, otherwise known as Taylor Street.  For anyone who knows Matt, knows that he is a foody! He particularly enjoys a devine Italian Beef sandwich!  He wanted to take us to The ORIGINAL Al's Beef and then across the street for the famous Mario's Italian Ice!

We got to the city around 10:30 and decided to go to Millenium Park, Monroe Harbor, and Buckingham Fountain.  Thankfully, Mya is back into the riding in her stroller stage!  She wised up and figured out it was much easier than walking everywhere!  At one point, I was about to kick her out and have Matt push me!  37 weeks pregnant and exploring the city could lead to a premature birth of this little guy....but the exercise was good and I survived!

EATING ITALIAN BEEF AT THE ORIGINAL AL's BEEF???
Nope.  Can you believe it was closed!?! A beautiful Sunday afternoon and it was closed! BUMMER!  We found another Taylor St. fav, Patio.  We still enjoyed our Italian beef sandwiches and hotdogs!

37 Weeks- And Losing "It"

My chin that is!  I about died when I saw this picture!  I definitely think I have had the most noticeable weight gain over the past week or so.  Many people ask me how much weight I've gained.  I'm not sure this is an appropriate question to ask a 37 week pregnant woman, but I can honestly say I haven't really kept track.  I know people think I'm crazy, or a liar, when I say this.  But, I don't really want to know!  I look away when I step on the scale!  I will worry if/when my dr. tells me to worry...which she hasn't! So... with that being said, I will embrace my weight and my chinless new look! EEK!

I am still scheduled for my 7:30 am c-section on May 16th at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.  As of last Monday, I wasn't dialated at all but the baby was "head down."  I have been TRYING to prepare as much as possible for the arrival of this little guy!  I didn't go into labor with Mya so I am a bit freaked out at the thought of going "early" rather than just driving to the hospital for a scheduled c-section!  He is definitely more of a mover than Mya ever was (crap... probably means he'll be hyper and an earlier mover) and I think I've "dropped."  I kind of think he may make his appearance before the 16th!  We'll see!  I'll keep you "posted!"  Next appointment is tomorrow morning.

Momma Wiegman looking LARGE AND IN CHARGE! Perhaps horizontal stripes isn't a wise choice these days!
