Baby Aubrey Comes to Visit!

Today baby Aubrey came to visit! Mya was SO excited that she's asked me every day this week if it's "Baby Aubrey Day?" I would venture to say she may be one of the cutest babies I've ever seen!

Baby Aubrey's Daddy, Eric, is one of Matt's good friends. They were fraternity brothers, roommates, and eventually groomsmen in eachother's weddings. THANK GOODNESS he married a girl I adore! She and I have grown to be great friends.  We recently vacationed together in Miami for a girls' trip! (I just realized I never posted pics... probable better off that way!)

I took a few pics of the kids playing together. She definitely smiled the most at Mya... and then gave me (and my camera) a serious face most times I tried to snap a shot! Regardless, she is SO DARN CUTE!

Playdate.... I'm exhausted.

Today Mya had a playdate with her friend, Kylie. Luke and I picked them up from preschool and we headed out to lunch, ice cream, and back to our house to play. I'm not sure why adding one little girl to the mix made things seem so much more exhausting, but it did!

Once Luke was down for his nap, the girls played...played...played with their babies! Fortunately, the girls enjoy the same things (BABIES!)... Unfortunately, the girls enjoy the same things (BABIES!). There was definitely some arguing, tattling, and most importantly-COMPROMISING! The Mommy/Teacher came out in me and we had a few conversations about how to treat and talk to our friends. YIKES! I can only imagine the issues that will arise when Mya is a teenager!

After babytime, we did a really cool art project.  I threw together a quick and easy recipe for puffy paint and the girls had a blast! Check out this website:

After 30 seconds in the microwave, the paint puffs up and hardens.
SO COOL! Next time, I will use other colors besides yellow, blue, and green.

Cheap Labor

We are SOOOOOO super duper excited for Auntie Andra and Mimi Rey to come visit! My little "helpers" were more than willing to help clean the house for our visitors! Now, we have less than 24 hours until they arrive... what are the chances the house can stay clean?

Happy 2013!

Happy 2013! We rang in the new year with the Korman family and the Goldberg family!  The kids had a blast crafting, playing, and ringing in the new year with an early countdown! Once the kiddos were in bed, the adults had a blast drinking, talking, and playing games. The ladies had even more of a blast kicking the boys' butts in Catch Phrase! WOOHOO!!!!

Bye Bye Baby Hair

Luke got his first "Big Boy" haircut! I was very resistent but when he started having "bad hairdays" I decided it was time.  He looks so much older with his new haircut! It all seems fitting since he's starting to act more like a kid than a baby! :-(  He is very independent these days. He wants to dress himself, feed himself, climb into his booster seat himself, etc. *Sigh* Guess I have to let me baby grow up.

I'm Kinda Jealous...

I'll be honest. I'm kind of jealous of Mya's remodeled room. I kind of love it.

New Paint- Restoration Hardware "Graphite" (Grey's are notoriously hard to work with.... I LOVE this color!)
New Chandelier- Overstock.com (This MADE the room!)
New Curtains- Bed Bath and Beyond (boring but added a lot to the room!)
Handmade Picture Frames- Yours Truly ;-)

I have been loving the Chevron pattern lately. I saw on Pinterest a way to paint them onto a board to create a frame. I tried and I failed. I had given up on the idea until it dawned on me to use fabric. Brilliant. I bought 3 foam boards at $1.99 each, 2 yards of fabric for about $10.00, 3 white mats, and enlarged 3 pics to 11x14 for $2.99 each.
I really like how they turned out!
