Meeting Addie

Today we met precious little Adelaide Grace Korman! I'm pretty sure she is going to be Mya's best friend (Brittany and I will make sure of it!). Addie is so teeny tiny and already seems to have a great tan! She is a little more than 3 months younger than Mya. She weighs less at 1 month than Mya did at birth! Mya seemed liked such a big girl compared to Addie! It made me realize how fast they truly do grow! Mya has grown quite fond of the camera, while Addie wasn't quite sure! Here are a few pics of the girls!

No Luck!

I am quick to report that our attempts have failed! We tried 4 different bottles/cups. $15 down the drain! We will continue to try!

Nipple Confusion

I went to Babies'R Us today with a mission.... find a nipple that resembles mine. I know, it sounds sick and twisted. However, Miss Mya can not be fooled. We have tried the ole' slip the bottle in while breastfeeding again and it failed. I absolutely cannot handle the stress and pressure of being the one and only source of nutrition for this baby! I go to work and daddy has to be able to feed her. Today, Matt had to drive to my work so that I could feed her! Since when does a 4 month old control my life?
So, back to finding a "Rachel Nipple"- Do you know how many different size, shape, price, and even COLOR nipples there are?!?!? There is a whole wall at Babies'R Us just for bottles and nipples! After very thoughtful choosing I decided on the Playtex and Adiri bottle. Ok, let me just explain to you about this Adiri bottle.... It is by no means the ordinary bottle! It doesn't have a twist on cap like most bottles. Oh no... this bottle actually looks and FEELS like an actually boob! It is made of silicon and has a built-in nipple. I opened it in the store and about started cracking up! I HAD to buy this thing and see if it works. If there is any fooling my little one, this badboy should do the trick. The only problem with this costly ($12.99) teet is that it is 1/2 white and 1/2 blue! Now, if I'm creating a model breast, I think I would choose colors that actually resemble a real one!

The Adiri Bottle

The Playtex drop-in bottle was cheap and highly recommended on the internet. It was much more cost efficient and the nipple actually resembles a real one too. It is actually more true to color! I will try both of these in my pursuit of bottlefeeding happiness! Cross your fingers and I will keep you posted. I am including some pictures of these bottles/nipples. I'm not sure who has the most nipple confusion in the Wiegman household.... see for yourself!

Daddy has nipple confusion! Will this fool Mya?

Operation: Drink the Bottle

We've come across yet another little hurdle in the land of Babyhood. Miss Mya has decided that she absolutely will not be drinking out of a bottle. No way, no how! Life was good up until Wednesday. I "thought" it would be a good idea to introduce formula to her. I "thought" it would be easier on me if I could just have Matt give her formula instead of me stressing about having enough milk pumped. BAD IDEA!!! She screamed and refused to drink from the bottle. It was from that point on that she has screamed at the mere sight of a bottle. She won't even take a bottle with breastmilk! On Friday, she went 5 hours without eating because I was at work. Matt tried and tried but had no luck! Boy was she a hungry little lady when mommy got home. She latched right on and drank and drank and drank! I thought I was so clever because I slipped the bottle into her mouth and she actually drank from the bottle..... Mission Accomplished! WRONG! We tried again tonight and no luck! Do you think it will work if daddy latches her on and quickly switches to the bottle? Is that wrong?

Tomorrow Mimi Rey will be watching her while I go to work. Everyone keeps saying, "She'll eat if she's hungry!" I'm not so sure. She went 5 hours without food last week! I will cross my fingers and pray for success. Mimi Rey may have the special Grandma touch... I can only hope!

Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!

Roly Poly!

We have a little Roly Poly.... Mya rolled over from front to back for the first time! I think my life is about to change! Pretty soon she's going to be crawling all over the place! Where does time go?
We were able to capture roll 2 and 3 on video! Here she is..... (please excuse daddy's camera work!)

Shhh... Our Little Secret!

As I stated in the caption on the picture to the left, Mya is a bit vain. She LOVES to look in the mirror that is attached to her playmat. She can completely contort her body so that she can see herself. She spins herself completely around so she has the best view of herself. She even lets out a squeal of excitement at times! I try to imagine what she is thinking as she looks in the mirror. Here are a few possibilities....
  • "Hey you, lookin' good!"

  • "Gosh, I am so cute!"

  • "Geez, am I always going to look just like my daddy?"

  • "What has happened to my hair? I really need a new stylist!"

  • "If anyone can pull off this hairdo it's me!"

  • "This is hideous, I wonder who's genes I inherited to get this mess of a hairdo!"

So, I just don't have the heart to break the news to her that her hair is actually disappearing in the back! I just can't say, "Mya, you are the most beautiful baby I have ever seen! BUT, there's just one problem.... you have a MAJOR bald spot on the back of your head!" I really think this news would devastate the little diva!

So, I am putting up a picture of her to show you all her "problem!" Please.... shhhh......keep this little secret to yourselves! We can't afford to send her to the salon just yet!

Baldy!

One LOOOONG DAY!

We were again prisoners in our own home today. We got many more inches of snow today and there was a windchill of -7 degrees! Mya and I had to cancel our lunch date with the teachers in Addison because of the weather conditions. Enough already we say! It becomes a VERY long day when we are homebound! Poor planning on my part left us with a very empty refrigerator. This in turn, FORCED me to snack on a batch of brownies I had made on Monday. Anyone that knows me knows that I don't really like sweets. Why, then, I ask did I eat almost the entire pan? I shamefully had to put the pan in the sink and drown the remaining brownies in water so that I would stop eating it. That takes WILL POWER!

Mya had 2 outfit changes (just for fun) and did several rotations between her bouncy seat, playmat, swing, and mommy's lap! We even jammed out to Barenaked Ladies new kids CD "Snacktime." I think being held captive in our own home made Mya go a little nutty! She would only take little catnaps and was very cranky. She could hardly wait to go to bed (6:30 is her new bedtime!) and I must admit, I could hardly wait for her to go to bed too! To top things off, daddy has been gone ALL day. He had to go to Iowa at 6:00 am and then on to Quincy, IL for work. It's 7:05 and he's still not home! :-(

A long day for both mommy and daddy (and Mya too!)

Rock on! Mya with her "tamborine" dancing to Barenaked Ladies. Like Mother like Daughter!
