Michigan MADNESS

We decided it would be fun to go on a Michigan vacation with the Funks, Kormans, O'Neills, and Wiegmans. That makes up a crew of 8 adults, and 5 little GIRLS under 4! I think we were all extremely nervous to attempt this adventure, but we all sucked it up, packed A LOT of things, loaded up our cars, and headed for Michigan. We rented a spacious 6 bedroom house that was close to the beach and had a pool. Fun, fun, fun...what could go wrong?!?!

We got to the house first. We unloaded our car and tried to strategically assign bedrooms. We had lots to think about... multi-napping infant, middle of the night screamers, and light sleepers.

Matt, Mya, and I headed for the pool. It was a beautiful afternoon and Mya loved the pool!

Soon, the others arrived. By 9:00 pm all babies were sound asleep and Mommies and Daddies were enjoying their "vacation!" What did people do before video monitors?
The next day, we headed to the beach! It was a beautiful day! Mya wasn't so sure about the sand, but the others seem to enjoy it! Kisses for Mommy!Mya liked loading her bucket with water and dumping it on the sand.
She was most comfortable in Mommy or Daddy's arms. The 3 amigas playing by the water. The girls break for a snack.Attempting to get in the water with Daddy.I love this picture! Friends and their babes! The girls take a break to play with some play doh!

THEN THE DISASTER STRIKES!!!!!! Our relatively calm and smooth vacation came to an ABRUPT end! The sun disappeared, the storm clouds rolled in, and the rain came pouring down! We thought the power may go out so we sent the Dads out to the store to get flashlights. They didn't get far before they had to turn around and come home. Trees were literally falling onto the roads as they drove. They were able to go later and get some flashlights. Thank goodness, because the power did go out. Functioning without power with 5 children is not an easy task. No power meant no sound machines, no monitors, and no air conditioning. That night turned out to be a complete disaster for the Wiegmans. Mya, my great sleeper, stayed up until 10:30 going bonkers. She finally fell asleep with me on the floor next to her pack n-play. Great night sleep for me, let me tell you!
Our trip came to an abrupt end Saturday morning. We all decided the power wasn't going and another day/night wasn't going to be much of a vacation! We packed up and headed home a day early.
The neighborhood looked like a warzone. This is the house across the street from our house. A tree fell between their 2 cars and another tree fell on their house.

4 of the 5 girls.... Izzy was napping. (L to R. Kylie, Mya, Ella, and Adelaide) I look forward to these girls being the best of friends.... but perhaps we shall wait a few years before our next multi-family vacation!
